No comments been put on the net about todays fiasco, are we all still drying out our coats? Or are we all out drowning our sorrows? After one of the worst opening 45 minutes of the season by far!
Thank goodness the Half-time Brew had some affect on the second half performance, were we totally dominated the game only to fail to take the points due to some erratic finishing. But at least we showed 45 minutes of fighting spirit after going in at the interval two goals down.
For the non-travellers the final score was Greenwood 3 Heanor Tn. 2
Boys, Wasn't it BLOODY WET OUT THERE ?????????????
Heres to next week------- UP THE TOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL FELLOW SUPPORTERS, PLAYERS, MANAGEMENT and ANYONE involved in the running of HEANOR TOWN F.C. |

Guests, have you not got the bottle to post under your name? I want to make a comment about the game v Greenwood. Tom Williams started the game out of position and it was clear from the off the lad is not a defender, Mick then pushed him up front his correct position, ok he wasn't having his best game for Heanor ( he'll probably say that himself ) but the supporters who got on his back, you're not helping the player, you're not helping the team, im not gonna name names but you all know who you are, ok you've paid your money and you're entitled to shout and whinge but that young lad must have gone in at halftime in tatters so i hope you're all proud of yourselves, call yourself supporters, You ALL need to look at Brett to see how to support the lads, a true supporter in my opinion, doesn't matter how long you've been following the team or whatever, stay off players backs, Stan Wilton you need to give Brett Abdul a break mate, you did nothing but slate him from start to finish but hang on, when he hit the 25 yard screamer to put us back in the game, nothing, nothing nothing came out your mouth!!!??!! Ok i'm probably gonna come in for some stick myself for this post, not bothered, i like to think like Brett, i'm a true supporter. _________________ UP THE LIONS!! |

just on the subject of bretts goal, i was right behind the line of it and i have not seen a better goal in this league or a couple of leagues above it was truely worthy of winning the game for us. did you see the reaction of all the players. i for one was well pleased for brett to score, especially one of that calibre.
anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!!
and thanks for bearing those horrendous conditions to cheer us on against greenwood |

I would just like to say that once again I was proud to be a Lions supporter. The players fought back like tigers(sorry-lions) in the second half in absolutely appalling conditions. Thanks lads it was worth getting soggy for! Happy New Year to everyone associated with this great club-Cheers!! _________________ Der Geistfahrer |

ok we were at the game but another problem we have week on week is the lack of subs not only for the first team but the reserves as well.Again a new face in the dug out when are we going to see a clear out of some of the guys that are not turning up week after week. I thought the team was so dis organised for the first half but then started to plat HEANOR footbal not like many in the league and it worked again for 20 minutes or so but as many games now days we seem to be playing up to 95 plus minutes as the ball kept going over the fence but the second half tactics were good apart from the injuries that we also got.Happy new year to all keep the forum going Paul MANY THANKS FOR 2006 LOOKING FORWARD TO 2007. |

Hi All,
Just wanted to firstly apologise for the last two displays which were very poor in my eyes. We deserved to lose to Greenwood solely on the first half performance and deserved to lose to Holbrook solely because they were the better side for 70 minutes. However we did have luck on our side against Holbrook.
Anyway, These displays surprised both myself and Mick, especially having seen recent improvements on the pitch. I would however like to comment on the lack of subs comment.
I understand how it looked but on the day, one hour before KO, Bev Hudson pulled out with a recurring hamstring problem which is really causing problems for him. The other new face on the bench is a young 19 year old called Lee Stafford whom we'd just signed on. He's an ex Burton Albion youth player whom I believe could be a very good signing for our injury hit defence.
The formation was the same as in previous weeks, 4-5-1, hence we tried Tom on the wing due to his energy, leaving Giz and Adam Nicholls free to support Ben. This did fail hence the changes at half time, where we opted to go for two up front and trial Lee Stafford.
Suddenly, back in the game, Sean Smith pulled his groin, then young Lee Stafford gets carried off injured. It was a bad day at the office but it will get better.
This is a very new young team who will grow with each other and a couple more signings and we'll give anyone a game.
By the way, your support at home and away is by far the best i've played under. The club deserves success if only for you guys so please keep on coming. I enjoy constructive critisicm so your feedback I enjoy.
Thanks Mark |

Thanks Mark for your comments, it's refreshing to know that the Management team are watching the same game as us supporters.
None of us were expecting miracles this season, knowing that Mick and Yourself were building a team from scatch, after what happened at the end of last season.
What we are hoping is that the re-building will continue during the rest of the season, and through the close season, so that Heanor Town can start the season 2007/2008 with one of the best teams we have had for years.
I think I can honestly say that the supporters are 100% behind your quest to get together a fine squad of players, and appreciate that there will be a few setbacks on the way.
Lets get the match against Prims won, and give ourselves a chance to get a Trophy in the cupboard this season !!!!!
UP THE TOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
