For those who have not read the Heanor News this week Steve Travis has decided to hang up his boots due to him being offered a part time coaching position with Derby County Acadamy from 1st October.
I would like to thank Trav personally and I am sure on behalf of all Heaanor Town supporters past and present for his loyal service over the past 11 seasons.
I dont think that the club has had a more dedicated and honest player, not during my time involved with HTFC. A true roll model for any young player today.
I would like to wish him the best of luck for the future.
Thanks again Trav!!!!

It appears that Steve Travis has been frozen out since he announced his departure from the Lions, who knows for what reason apart from not being fit, but that's probably because when he has had a shirt 30 seconds of play is all he has been offered.
I would say that the most fitting tribute to this fully committed club man would be to include him in the starting lineup and give him the skippers armband for the last time. As Steve Pinnegar said 11 years of loyal service.
Having seen some recent displays he should be in the starting lineup on merit.
What do you say Mr Bennett? |

Trav hasn't started so many games lately down to being unavailable.
He didnt go to halesowen with us yesterday because he was unavailable.
Why give him the captains armband... no offence to trav, but he resigned from captaincy.
And by the way, Jamie won't reply through here. |

Yes Red Trav has been unavailable but a number of games but he has been left on the bench having to watch players in defensive positions having mares of games and being left on the pitch when it was obvious that the defence needed some stability in there. Then with a few seconds to go and loosing 2-1 send him on, what an insult, and that was only one game!! and if you don't know which game I am talking about it was against Gedling MW.
And as for your self styled spoksperson roll for the Director of Football/Manager maybe you could keep out of it at least for this once and give the guy a chance to answer. The post has only been on the site for a few hours. |

first of all i would like 2 wish trav all the best in his new adventure at derby county and your contribution 2 heanor town over the last 11 years should be commended by everybody involved at the club. i have already voiced my opinion that something should be organised to celabrate travs time at the club, perhaps at the end of this season.as 4 your other points i beg 2 disagree, 1st point, trav wasnt frozen out of team selection,i would of thought it would be obvious that as he would not be involved again we would need 2 select a team, minus trav 2 give them time 2 gell, you will notice the spine of the side remains constant. whenever possible, secondly the last minute substitution was only made due 2 an injury, therefore there was no insult intended, or i suppose we could of played with 10 men, team selection will always be open 4 debate, and i will try and reply 2 all your questions as long as you give me the respect of putting your name 2 your gripes,so come on newshound!!!! ps thankyou 4 your great support on sunday...............brian franks |

newshound for what reason? if you read the 1st post you will notice hes doing coaching at derby county u12's. instead of worrying about heanor players stick to u own problem. yourself
This post started out thanking trav for a v.good 11 yrs service to heanor town. now it has gone down hill asking mr bennett questions yet again. steve why dont u ask mr bennett in person if it concerns u that much.
why play somebody who is leaving the club wouldnt this just upset the player whos position he takes. obviously steve u think he should be in the side for the game on saturday. who should be dropped??
has for heanor-red u say what you like within reason its a fans forum and you r a loyal fan. |

Well Trav I bet you wish you were staying after all the kind words from Frank and Baz thats what 11 years of loyalty gets you in the end, not to mention what Brian Franks has to say.
I agree with him to a point but why did he have to wait for an injury in the last minute to change a line up in a game which we were obviously second best. From the contents of his post it would appear that you were not wanted from the point you anounced your departure, if that aint being frozen out what is?

just my humble opinion, but why putting trav on (a defender)how would that help our aim of trying 2 get a goal?ive already stated reasons 4 benching trav so i wont repeat myself but my definition of being frozen out is total non selection, lets be straight. this is travs decision 2 leave not ours and performance related would always be in any squad that i had any dealings with.i think it would be a good idea, if he is available 4 him 2 play in the last home game of this season so the fans can give him the send off he deserves |

I'm liking that idea BF.
If Steve isn't available last home game of the season, get him in for a pre-season game next year. He's been a loyal servant to HTFC, and I hope the committee will recognise this! (and that isn't a dig, merely a suggestion)
Do we have a long service award available? lol
Anyway, this thread was set up to thank such an honest footballer for his service. Not to try and set up a game.
Between Steve and the management I'm sure it will be sorted. Faith in Football works BIG TIME! |

I know of a few people who think trav would maybe not have decided to leave had he been playing week in week out its understandable he is calling it quits while everybody knows he can do a decent job at this level maybe the frustration of not being available every week and then being left out has got to him a bit ?
This is not a dig at trav or anybody else but if trav is to play one last game for the lions that decision should taken the 3 managers and not moaning supporters you pay your money you support the team you dont pick it.
sorry if this offends but its the harsh truth let brian nathan and jamie do their jobs and stop worrying about trav he's called it a day, will the lions be his last club time will tell we all have to step down at some point to get first team football !!! |
