To save us from being mushrooms about the new league lol This is pretty informative. Can we get changing rooms and seats put in in 3 months? Hope so.
The Leicestershire Senior Football League (LSL) and the Central Midlands League (CML) have been given FA Approval to form a new league to participate at Step 6 of the non league system. The league will be formed from members of the 2 leagues that have the necessary facilities, and who fall into the 3 county catchment area of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
The league will be managed initially by a joint steering committee from the LSL and CML and the constitution of the league will be defined early in the new year after the leagues have finally assessed that members who wish to go forward to the step 6 league will have their facilities in place by March 31 st 2008. It is anticipated that the league will be initially of 16/18 teams, with an equal split between both parent organisations.
Thereafter the clubs will enjoy normal promotion and relegation issues associated at that level of the non league system and complete the non league system to grass roots level in the East Midlands.
To meet the necessary time scale outlined by the FA, a sub committee of the LSL and CML are having further meaningful discussions to enable the clubs to be in place, name the new league, find a sponsor, arrange officials and finance for the league from the FA and compile a set of league rules and regulations.
